Default avi codecs

Hi, i down loaded some avi films to play on usb on my samsung lcd. Some work and some doesnt support the codec.
I'm wondering if theres a way to add the codec on the files or the external hdd as there isnt any audio codec files which seems to stop it working

thanks

you will need to re-encode the ones that don't work (losing quality)
download an app called GSpot, put in a file that works, make a note of what codec (including version) it uses for audio and video, also what resolution, then re-encode the others with the same

This is in regards to a Samsung TV, quoted directly from a Samsung rep:

Attached is a list of the codecs that are available:

Please keep in mind that the codec, audio codec and resolution must all match for the file to work.

All of these codecs are supported either from the PC using PC Share Manager, or via USB thumbdrive. The thumbdrive option doesn't offer any more support than the computer option.

If you're able to match these codecs up with your current files, you have the option of either using a different media player that can support more file types, or encoding your current files into files that are supported.

Does that help?

It sounds like you can add codecs to the HDD such as XviD and AC3.
