I have been using Nortons antivirus now for a couple of years, all of a sudden there have been all these viruses now the antivirus wont scan past a particular profile

brings this error

Norton AntiVirus Scanner Module has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

AppName: navw32.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.58 ModName: ntdll.dll

ModVer: 5.1.2600.1217 Offset: 00008ddf

E:\DOCUME~1\jonno112\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERC.tmp.dir00\ appcompat.txt

I have recently removed W32.aladinz.irc.k from my system and reinstalled nortons...

Is anyone else having this problem with nortons...

I used to have those same problems buddy. I deleted NAV and now I use free antivirus scan from the net and everything is ok. Go here for a free scan .http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Congrats, elperra!

And jonno112, normally reinstalling NAV would fix the prob.

Congrats :)

Rather than having no AV software at all you might like to try out AVG (http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php), its free and runs very nicely on all windows platforms. Thats a little safer than running no AV whatsoever, at least it has a constant eye on your incoming mail (rather than just an occasional scan when you visit a website), although its not quite as good as products like Norton and McAfee of course!

Just another option to think about anyway.
