Hi folks,
A mate of mine has recently had a pc built but he decided to install the operating software himself (XP Pro) with some telephone help from me.
Anyways installation went ok and he managed to get round the activation method via a crack he picked up off a guy at a computer fair along with a naughty copy of XP Pro.
He's started to download all the updates and everything was going well until he got to installing the service pack.
He tells me the process was taking hours to complete,so he re-started his pc and tried again. Anyway the yellow update shield has appeared in the task bar telling updates are ready to install but when he goes to install them a message pops up telling him that XP is unstable and he should go into add/remove programs.
He's tried going into add and remove programs but there's nought there, probably because he hasn't installed anything yet (apart from some updates).
Anyone got any ideas what the problem is and why is it telling him his software is unstable?
