XP System Restore not working?!

I'm trying to restore my PC to a previous date and have tried three times but am unable to as the PC restarts and i'm being told that it is not possible to restore back to that point.

Is there anything else i need to do?

have you checked system restore is enabled in system properties

The option is not ticked where it says: turn off system restore on all drives

This can happen now and again, have you tried any other restore points that are slightly further back in time?

Should work, I try and remember to do one a week myself minimum to give more options should this happen.

with my computer specific restore points are default set by the computer but i can set ones i want also, sometimes these can become conrupt or unstable due to missing data. Often just the simplest file, or so the compaq guy told me.

Check the source of the restore point file, if its not there will obviously u can't restore to that point. If the files conrupt u basically screwed there too, would be a bit risky repairing the file and then restoring back too it.
