how do i burn avi or mpeg to dvd

for avi i convert to DVD compliant mpg with tmpgenc and compile the mpg into vob files with dvdlab aand then burn with nero

If you have Nero 6, try Nero Vision Express. I've had good results with various AVI's. I've also combined VOB, AVI and MPG's on one disc. But I do have to use either Recode or IC8 for the final burn to eliminate the unwanted menu it creates. The reason I go with IC8 is sometimes Recode can't open NVE's output, I get an error message.

Update: Just noticed can untick 'Create menu' under 'More'. What a relief.

I wouldn't recommend NVE for converting.

Personally I would convert the video with CCE or QuEnc and convert the audio to AC3 with say TMPGEnc's AC3 encoder, ffMPEG or the one that comes with Scenarist then author.

For MPG's you may just be able to get away with only re-encoding/resampling the audio.

I usually just drag it to the data window in nero & it does the rest.
