View Full Version : my kids got a directx 9 prob with game
on my sons pc he has been playing a game (rome total war) now when he runs the game its asking for.....you need direct x 9 to play this game
he has intalled it over and over but it still keeps asking for dx9
i was tring to remmember how to find out what version is installed but cant remmember so how do i find out what dx9 is installed

Type "dxdiag" in the Run box then click OK or press <Enter>.
DirectX 9.0c can be downloaded here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9226a611-62fe-4f61-aba1-914185249413&displaylang=en).
thanks m8 just checked there pc and it does have dx9 does any1 no why the games not playing anymore,it has been working fine and just incase it is an original.

There are a couple of obvious things we can do:
1) Update to 9.0c if your DirectX version is either 9.0a or 9.0b. DirectX 9.0c has some performance improvements and fixes such as Shader 3.0 that the game may call for. The download link for v9.0c is in my post above.
2) If you've already had DirectX 9.0c, try updating the video driver. If you need help to get the newest driver for your video adapter, please tell the make/model of your video card.
