right here goes, i was trying to copy the contents of a dvd full of mp3 albums, originally i was going to copy the dvd but my dvd burners not working properly, any way i created a folder on my desk top then just cut and paisted the contents to the new folder. less than half way through it came up with this error
"cyclic redundancy check" then failed the transfer, i've since tried again with a different dvd and still the same thing, is there some way to fix this. thanx for looking.

this could be
1) check the master / slave combination, writers like to be the master if poss
2) could be the disc you are copying from (more likely). It can mean when the disc was compiled (I assume it is a copy DVD) there was an error when written.
If it is only this disc, it's prob an error on the disc.

As emailrob says, it's most likely the disk you are cut & pasting from.
Cyclic Redundancy Check error usually means read error. This could be the disk is dirty or scratched or a bad burn. It could also be the laser is dirty or an incompatibility with the drive/media.
If you have a DVD-ROM drive & a Burner, try it in both, as Burners can sometimes read "iffy" disks better.
Also it's possible that just one or two of your mp3 files are unreadable, so make a note of the filename that gives the Cyclic Redundancy Check error and retry your cut and paste, without that file.

I would suspect a faulty disc, chances are if the disc use a cheap and nasty dye, it will work for a while, then die with errors like yours.
I think I have around 100 discs using Datawrite/Bulkpaq from last year, which when first recorded, read fine, but now have problem even just accessing them, either get the error or the machine will freeze meaning the disc is causing problem.
I have found many times reading them on the original writer can eventually read the content, but its a 50/50 chance.
