Hi everyone,
I was just wondering, what type of camera (or can anyone recommend one) which is used to take "professional" quality pictures?
I'm not talking about digital camera's to take standard photos of your family or when you go on holiday, I talking about the proper quality photos which stand out as a great piece of art, if you know what i mean.
So does anyone know any digital cameras which are suited for this purpose? that could recommend to me as im thinking about going into photography.

I am assuming you have a good quality camera at the moment and have "the eye" for a photo. My opinion is you will be looking no further than the Canon EOS (not the am models), and the Nikon D series. this is where you should start reading, definately the cameras to go for, I have had many olympus cameras and have a 7070 at present, I demand high quality and the olympus gives it for what I use it for, a mate of mine has had is own signwriting company for years, he has a Nikon D100 and a Canon EOS-1D MKII 8.2 mp, 8.5 fps, he paid just under £1000 for a new lens, he has let me borrow both. Stunning cameras be prepared to pay a starting price of £500 for the D100 body and £1500+ for a 1D body (the new EOS-1Ds is about £5000) so I am not talking about the most expensive camera but a professional camera that is extremely hard to beat for the price , anything less and you will find yourself wanting and will have wasted money. Make sure you have a 5 year warranty, good insurance, there is an array of Nikon and canon lenses that will suit your purpose, the choice will be yours

just noticed you posted this elsware and how much you want to spend, I assumed your aim was too take on the pro's, the problem you will have is that you will need more than one lens if you want to take up pro photography, a single camera will not get you the experience, period. to do this gigitaly is expensive, why don't you try and get your hands on something like an Olympus OM10 with lenses from 28mm to 200mm zoom, more than 1 flash, air or remote shuttrer release, tripod, a 2X convertor and a motor winder, process them onto disc, the quality is hard to beat for what you will pay, as Lazza and said and I commented earlier you need "the eye". the camera produces the quality and not the picture
