Hello Everyone. Hope that things are well.

I am just getting into the XBox scene and have some DA (dumb-arse) questions:

1. Are there any specific xbox versions-dvd rom drive combos to avoid (if I can!) when I buy my xbox?

2, I was planning to get it chipped with the xenium? Any thoughts? (I may also use 'live' at some point)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If you are buying a new xbox there is really nothing to worry about. If you are buying a used unit, make sure it dosn't have a Thomson dvd-drive. That's about the only thing to look out for. Xeneium is a good chip and you can use it with Live. Just make sure that if you plan on upgrading the hard drive that you do it before you sign up for Live.

How good is your soldering? If it's not up to par, maybe you should avoid the version 1.6 (Requires an LPC rebuild).

LPC rebuild PCB makes life easier. not that hard with it.

Correct, but incase the chip does NOT include one, how confident is his soldering...

Thanks for all the help.

I am getting the xbox professionally modded as I am all thumbs with soldering. I just wanted to see if there was any version that should be totally avoided (I understand that this may not be possible).

Thanks again.
