Currently nearing the end of my current batch of DVDR some G04 which have been solid on the writer even though only x4 http://club.cdfreaks.com/images/smilies/2/frown.gif

Looking around at more media there seems to be a huge gap between "safe" media and the rest "safe" media being Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim which seem to be around double the price of the rest, I'm looking for printable media, that will do the job, currently considering the Datawrite Titanium (8x) Full Face Printable I have some G05 and TTG02 both of which I have had probs with video, data they have been ok.
I know that this is often all about batches whereas one batch of say G05 can be fine and the next is poor. Just wondered if anyone can reccomend a current batch of media that works well, as at this time I dont really want to double my expenditure for safe media and alternatively dont want to end up doubleing the overhaul cost by buying bad media

If you are not too worried about speed, I would stick with Ritek G04's for the time being.
They are still the best value for money and they are certainly more reliable than G05's.

TTG02's get nothing but bad press too...... best avoided

Datawrite Titanium (8x) are inferior disks ... they are CMC dye (CMC MAG AE1).... so not recommended, despite all the sales hype.

I am using modified firmware for my 3520 and burning G04's at 6 x speed, without problems. If you are happy to flash your drive, I am sure there is something similar for the 109 ..... no doubt someone else will post on this.

Ok thx for the repy

At the moment I dont think there is any cracked firmware for the A09 so GO4 means x4 which seems a little pointless getting a x16 speed writer for LOL, but hopefully a affordable alternative will come through SOON!!
BTW the majority of what I have mentioned are for video I have found for data more or less anything is ok

Nope. V1.17 firmware is the latest and most up to date option that is currently out for the 109/A09.

I was in the same boat when I first got my 3520, but there is a modified firmware now, which is fine.

Be patient ;)
