System Link Cable

this probably isnt the place for it, but its the one i could find.......
is the xbox system link cable, just a standard network cable? a cat5e or whateva they r? or is there something special about them?? cus i have seen a few on ebay, and they look like normal network cables
also, im guessing backup games will play over a system link, even if one xbox has a chip and a backup, while his mates might have an original and a non-modded xbox? possible?

the system link cable is a crossover cable not a cat5 cable, and yes it will work with a modded system and a non modded system.

oh i c.......thanks, so i had to change my network, as i only had two computers connected using an orange crossover cable..........i changed it so i could network the xbox in, and now i use different cables....so the crossover cable i had before, the orange one, which was just used to link 2 computers, will work as a system link??? :saywhat:
