HD Loader Problem

I have a PS2 Version 5 or 6 which is modded with the Duo Chip. Up until now i have used a HD loader disc to save my laser. Now the HD loader cannot find the hard drive, "Hardware Error". Ive tried the Hard Drive and network adapter on a friends PS2 and they both work great, as they did on mine for a long time. My best guess is that the port that the network adapter plugs into no longer works, if this is the case, is there any easy way to repair this or should i just leave it alone. Thanks _DJBLUESHIFT

Sounds like it might be easier to get used one at a store for $15

Its not the network adapter that is bad, its the Serial port on the back of the PS2 that is believed to be bad. Both my network adapter and HD loader disc both work on my friends PS2.
