View Full Version : How to get best out of Bit Torrent?

I am using Azureus with a 1 meg connection.

I have freed up ports 6881-6883 so I do not get NAT errors. I am only getting download speeds between 40-60kbs at the moment. I think it is primarily because there are few seeds/peers for the file I am downloading, however I can see that other people are getting about 90kbs down.

Is there anyway to optimize my download/any thing I need to do to get a faster download?

Thanks
Akhil

Hard to say, as you said it could be just the files you are d/l with too few seeds/leechers.

I use ports 50000-60000 myself but don't think it makes a great deal of difference really. I also use BitTornado as I find I get better speeds than Azureus but plenty of people prefer it over BT so it's good software, just personal pref really.

I have used both and personally prefer Azureus just due to user interface

Limit you upload speed in the client to half you max. That should deff help.

Doesn't it bother you that you could get hit by a bus everytime you walk outside??! :insane:

Getting back on the subject...You posted here, so there is a record of your IP, why doesn't that bother you? Not to mention every web server and router you've gone through probable has a record of your IP. If you're going to be that paranoid about your IP then you're better off never connecting to the internet.

Not to mention that fact, that people in other countrys don't have to deal with the RIAA, or MPAA which are only US specific.
