Component out on PAL PS2, help wanted

I have an Epson projector with component inputs. I have an xbox and gamecube working fine but I can't get a picture with the PS2(which is a PAL machine). I have set the PS2 to component out. I have even tried setting both the projector and PS2 to rgb but to no avail. I bought a lead from Lik-sang and they exchanged it when I couldn't get it to work, however the replacement won't work either.

Is there something I am missing or do PAL machines not produce component out?
