i got wireless broadband installed today and am looking for a solution
to run a laptop as well as the standalone

I'm going to move this to the Consumers Opinion forum for you.
Netgear routers are my preference.
Just remember... 802.11a/b/g
G is the fastest, and is backwards compatbale. While A is on a seperate frequency. Less crowded.

i bought a belkin wireless cable/dsl gateway router 802.11b @ 59.99
and a belkin pcmcia wireless notebook network card , 802.11b @ 29.99
both from pc word
