has anyone tried homehighway from bt? i cant get broadband so i was looking at this and it says that it gives you 128k instead of the 56k that i have now and its only £8 more a month than i pay just now, but the only problem is that i have to sign up for a year so i was wanting to find out if anyone had it and what it was like

I think it's basically an ISDN extension. to be honest 128K is not that a huge increase, but it may be the only option (I assume you cannot get cable).
What are you paying at the moment, you say only £8 more?

What are you paying at the moment, you say only £8 more?no i cant get cable or anything, i am paying about £16 a month for aol and the line rental from bt works out at £10.50 a month and that is £26.50 a month, it is £35 a month for the homehighway and that includes the line rental

While BT-HY can handle 128k when using both lines, AOL only uses 64k, so watch out

HTHif i do get it i will cancel aol, but what i want to know is if im d/loading and i get 4k a second with 56k modem will i get much more speed and if i play games and my ping is about 300 will it come down much? i know its double the connection speed but with computers double the speed doesnt always mean much, and i dont want to be stuck with a contract for a year if its not very good

ISDN ping time is excellent, we have had ISDN for over 6 years, even when DSL came out then we move to Telewest, we still kept the ISDN because of the faxing ability as well as a backup to get online with a ISDN router.

On average from memory, 64k ISDN will yield around 7-8kbps per second, 128k around 15kbps, download is around 25MB/hr on 64k and 45-50MB/hr for 128k, but your ISP need to support 128k and most will force you to pay twice for the extra speed.

im sure she said it was £35 a month for the 128k but i will find out more
