I have been having many problems with my pc over the last few months, which I am now starting to think are memory related.

So I downloaded Memtest86, ran the test, and it picked up a load of errors on the 5th test. The odd thing is though, I only get the errors if I have both of my 512mb sticks pluggd in. If I run the test on the sticks individually, it passes all the tests. Both sticks are Vdata 512mb ddr 400, running in dual channel.

In the system info section on Memtest, it siad the following:-

L1 cache 128k 12799mb/s
L2 cache 256k 4074 mb/s
Memory 1024 m 679 mb/s

Is this how it should look? If it isn't, how do I put it right?

Your L1 Cache and L2 cache are CPU related, and not RAM related. The L1 and L2 cache reside on your CPU's die and are used exclusivly for the CPU.

Is your mobo dual channeled? Are you overclocking? have you tried loosing up the timings?

Thanks for that, I had no idea.

Is your mobo dual channeled? Are you overclocking? have you tried loosing up the timings?I assume it's dual channel. It is a fairly new board, (Gigabyte G7-7VA), and takes up to 3 gig memory. I'm not overclocking anything, and as for ram timings, that's a little beyond my level of understanding unfortunately.

One thing I wondered: When I ran the tests on both sticks individually, I installed the ram in the first bank. Is it possible, that it's the second bank on my motherboard that's dodgy, and that is why the test only finds the errors when all of the memory is installed?
