yo, i got this weird probelm with the backspace button in ms word. If i want to delete a whole sentence and highlight it and then press backspace nothing gets deleted, the text just gets unhighlited. If however i press the delete button instead of backspace the text does get deleted. if i want to delete a word or whatever i can press backspace and it works it just doesnt work when i want to delete something highlited. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem?

TIA :) sorry if my wording is confusing

If I understand you correctly...
If the cursor is behind what you want to delete, then use backspace. If the cursor is in front of what you want to delete, use delete.

Look for any such setting in Tools Menu -> Options -> Edit. BTW, Which version of MS Word?

From what i gather, its that he can only "delete" highlighted text with the delete button, but not backspace.

However when it comes to deleting non-highlighted text he can use backspace.

Mastermind is on the right track I think
Tools menu, options, edit tab. Make sure that "Typing replaces
selection" is checked. Apparently, backspace is part of typing.
