my friend thought he was connecting through freeserve any time ,but on recieving his phone bill it showed the below number was being accessed when on the net charging him about £80. on his phonebill extra,he also had a letter from freeserve saying he was connecting to themwith the wrong number?
why didnt they stop it?
here ,s the number ( energis 08450796699)

He has a trojan dialler on his system, tell him to download and use a program called Spybot - Search&Destroy. A search of these forums will produce a vast amount of information on the subject.

from the sounds of it "he also had a letter from freeserve saying he was connecting to themwith the wrong number? why didnt they stop it?" he doesn't have a trojan at all, but still worth checking the system.

i presume they have two services, a pay-as-you-go and an 0800 service. unfortunately for your friend, it is not up to the ISP to warn you of this predicament, and many wouldn't even send you a letter.

more money is more money in business, I'm afraid.

TierraDelFuego is correct the 08450796699 number is the freeserve pay as you go number,I'm afraid its your friends responsibilty to check that he's dialing the correct number not Freeserve or BT.

yes youre right ,but what a way to treat a customer they could have sent him a email
to save him the £8.00,they take eole for granted.
