Hi everyone
I am going to fit a new MoBo, I also want to partition drive at the same time, so I can have the operating system in a small section of the 40 gb drive.
I have read the Radified fdisk in FAQ but have a few questions

1, What size should the partition be for the operating system ( XP Pro ) ?
Taken into consideration that SP2 and later updates will need to go on.
What other programs are best kept with the operating system?

2, I only have one 1 drive so when I come to deleting all the data.
do I delete the Logical DOS drive then the Primary DOS partition ?
( I should not have a extended Partition, I only have "C " drive)
I am sure I only ever deleted the Primary the last time, I have only
formatted the drive twice before.

3, I am using Fat32 files can I change it to ntfs during
the partitioning ?

4, Will fitting a new Mobo mean the hard drive must be formatted ?
( I must do this anyway as it's full of crap, just asking the question)

cheers
riggie

1. At least 10gb...mine is 8.

2. Just use the Xp disk to remove all partitions

3. Yes

4. More than likely.

Basically just burn files you need to disk. Then fit your new mobo and drive. Then insert the XP cd, and delete all the partitions, then make one partition 8 - 10 gb's. Its very easy. By switching new mobos, Xp sees the hardware changes and sometimes will blue screens or just wont boot, sometimes not. But it is best to reformat, so there is no conflict with the old drivers.
