Hello everyone,
I cannot connect my jcv camcorder to my pc. I've install all of the softwares that comes with the machine. In device manager under "usb composite device" properties it said "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because there is a duplicate device already running in the system. (Code 42)"
please help
thanks

IMHO, USB is a waste of time with DV cameras. Your Video camera should have a 'IEE1394 Firewire' socket on it, this is the way to go.
If you dont have a 1394 socket on your pc, you can buy them quite cheaply. Just be a little careful as to which one you get, as they don't all work 100% with DV.

Did you read the manual? cause lots of times you have to install the software BEFORE ever connecting your camera.

most software ,for example Pinnacle studio 9,you will need a i-link cable (connected via fire ports on pc and DV out on camcorder)
this will give direct control of camcorder via the pc software for rewind, fastforward and transfers the video in digital format (100% as recorded on your DV tapes)
i just got myself the Sony Handycam DCR-HC18 and its fantastic what you can produce with even a small amount of captured video with Pinnacle
