that title probably didn't make much sense. anyway i wiped my hard disk clean and re-installed win 98. no problems at first. got rid of the junk and have just the programs i need back on. installed the drivers for everything and now i have a small problem. after installing my modem( it says it is working properly in the device manager) when i go to dial on to the internet it says it can't find my modem and the port is already open. i installed my printer and it says it can't comminicate with it. these both worked fine before i wiped everything out. my guess is that something is not right with my ports and i don't want to spend hours scratching my head. anyone have an idea where i should start. do i have to configure the ports or something. please help. thanks
