I am having major problems with my homepage changing. Every time I change the home page it will revert back to "about Blank" and loads a easysearch website that shows links to spyware programs.

I realise I have adware/spyware on my computer but I have not yet worked out how to get rid. I have spybot and adaware pro on. Adaware finds items that it deletes but they come straight back. Anybody got any ideas as i realy do not want to format my hard drive.

Download hijackthis and cwshredder. Run cwshedder first, then hijackthis and post the log it creates.

I ran cws shredder and it did not find anything. I have also ran Spy sweeper and it can find about blank and manages to block and delete it but it comes back if i close internet explorer it will not re-open with spy sweeper on.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Here is the log from hijack this. I am unable to post all the info on one go as the txt is too long.

Daaaaaamn, Ok get rid of:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\Ross\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.dll/sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\Ross\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.dll/sp.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

For now, I would get rid off that. I would also recommend removing that getgo, spyware-vanisher from add/remove progs. Hopefully I didnt overlook anything.

I would also clean out your temp folders as well.

HI thanks for the information.

I deleted everything you said. If yourun another scan they are gone. However if I open Internet Explorer it goes straight to the about:blank page. I then did another scan and all the items are back. Any Ideas.

I have managed to find a restore point without the spyware attached.

It has ment going back 6 weeks. Most of the other points would not restore.

Thanks for your time and effort helping me, although I am still very confused as to why I could not delete the items.

Cheers once again

Also a good idea to install Spyware Blaster too as it will stop most of this ever happening and can stop your homepage being changed also.

Hi uncle. In the future please don't delete your posts/log. Luckily at least I can still view it though. ;) I believe there's a chance that you still have a problem as I see that you have a worm in your running processes. Just to make sure, please run hijackthis again and post the log here.
