hi
bought a xbox crystal for my boy for chrstmas in november 2004
hes been using it since christmas day a lot all day playing halo 2
and all the other games hes got , last week it has started flashing orange
unpluged the console the book states to hot worked for a bit ,
the nex few days its been flashing orange first thing in the morning when its been off all night ,and 2 day i was about to but a game in the screen went all distorted and there was a spining noise in side the xbox and it just shut down with the tray still open
its under warrnanty just wanted to now if eny one els had this happen

Computers shut themselves off if they get too hot. Is it in an entertainment center or on the carpet?

it is on the carpet took it out from the tv cabinet

Man you are doing everything wrong there. 1. Playing any console for very long periods of time is not wise (ie in excess of 6 hours). 2. The carpet is the worst possible place for a console. It picks up all sorts of junk for the carpet and is much more prone to overheating. I would definitely return the console and get a new one since it is still under warranty. Start over fresh with a brand new console and the knowledge you have gained. ;)

phoned toysrus in south wales they gave me microsoft phone number phoned them
they said that it had to be repaired ,i told them i wanted a replacment but the man on the phone said there are no more crystal x boxes eny where left in uk , so he gave me a reference number to get a replacment in my local store but they dont have eny either, they are due in next month only black ones
looks like ill have to have a black one in a months time
and not let my boy hammer it
