quick question will x-boxs play dvdr's? if so can they play dvd+r and dvd-r if not do you need a mod chip for them to play them?:insane:

generally dvd-r's are more compatible that +r's for the xbox but most drives should read both (there are three-possible drives- theres a thread elsewhere in this forum to find out which one you have)

as for playing backups on +/-r's you will either need a modchip or one of the no modchip exploits- the pros and cons of which are also on another thread in this forum- but a stock xbox (unmodded in anyway) will play dvd movies burnt on dvd media (assuming the drive can read the media in the first place- to ensure your drive has the best chance of reading the media- use decent media (ritek/verbatim/tayo yuden) and burn at slow speeds
