Ok, i know that i have gotten this answered before, but for some reason, the search is not working. everytime i search this site, i get nothing. no results. soo......
1. How do i turn off the auto reboot in win XP when it encounters an error?
2. How do i turn off Windows messanger service?
3. Most of the time when my friend is using her computer and she opens IE, her computer freezes. What would maybe be the problem? Should i recomend Spybot, Adaware, and Firefox? Would those 3 things help?
Thanks a ton.

1) Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Advanced and under the startup and recovery settings, under system failure uncheck "automatically restart".
2) Go to Start/Run and type in Services.msc and press enter.
Go to Messenger and right click it and select Properties. Change the start up type: to Disabled.
Then under the services status click stop.
Click apply then click ok.

thanks a ton again!!!!
anyone have any info on number 3?
Yes, run antispyware apps, if it doesn't do anything then try uninstalling and reinstalling IE.

Ok, i told her to get..ad aware, and spybot SD. she downloaded them, but everytime she tries to run the program, her computer reboots or freezes. I told her to turn the Auto-reboot off, and now it just freezes instead of rebooting. Her and I are far away right now, I have heard of program that let you access your computer from different places. Do these programs work? Which one would be recommended so that i can access her puter to fix it my self?
Once again...thanks a ton!!

Have her try running them in safe mode.

Try getting into Safe Mode by using the System Configuration Utility ......
Click Start, click Run & type in msconfig then click OK.
Check the SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK.
Then Click the Restart prompt.
The system should now restart in Safe Mode, so you can do your scannning etc.
When you are finished, dont forget to go back into msconfig (as above) and uncheck the SAFEBOOT box and reboot, otherwise the system will keep booting in Safe Mode.
HTH
P.S. I would forget about remote access for now, as this will further complicate the process ;)

There is some adware that causes the freezing problem with updates and scans off the top of my head cant thing what its called but thats most likely your problem but i think its the about:blank hijack.

PC Anywhere by Symantec maybe? The one I personally use is Radmin (http://www.famatech.com/).
