at the moment it won't run from hd, it boots to the title screen then freezes, it might be possible for someone to release a fix for it though

the only other possibilty is for someone to release a rip kit to rip it to dvd5, this'll need an extractor/rebuilder writing so the 2 large .vol files can be opened then it'll be possible to remove/downsample videos and music

It all depends on which method you use to backup your games. As mentioned above, you could probably find a DVD9 to DVD5 rip-kit somewhere out there.

is it a general dvd9 to dvd5 kit (one that rips any dvd9 file) or is it game specific? i currently have an iso image and an alcohol image of the game.

there's no rip kit for it yet, one will need to be made for it if it's possible

there are 2 large files on the disc, GT4.VOL which is over 3gb on the 1st layer and GT4L1.VOL which is about 2.5gb on the 2nd layer, these .vol files contain all the games data but a program will need to be written that can extract/rebuild these files (there's one available for gt3)

even if it's possible to make the game small enough to fit on dvd-r there may be other protection that needs removing such as media checks and lba tables, it's just a case of waiting to see if anyone manages to rip it
