I am also looking for the same. I have lots of home movies of the kids that I would like to burn to dvdr.

What exactly would I need? I too have a Sony Hi 8 camcorder.

i myself have got a dazzle 2 capture device which is lovely. external mpeg decoding. have had it few years now, lovely stuff.

email me if u need anymore info.

i must add though, since i bought it, lots and lots and lots of captuiring devices have been released so i cant really tell you whats good at the moment, just what i have used.

to be honest. if all u wanna do is make dvds out of them, buy a dvd recorder.

i have got a panasonic e50. lovely machine. u can get an E20 and E30 which are cheaper but as good.

hope that gives u something to look at

The Leadtek TV 2000 XP Expert PCI capture card is excellent. (~$50 USD).

I can vouch for this card - excellent reviews and a good tv tuner. Good software package as well.

I'm going to move this to the Consumers Opinion forum.
