For the features and the price I would just get a modded XBOX. You can upgrade the HD to any size computer HD and XBMC will play far more than the Kiss DVD Player will. *EDIT* I just checked out amazon.com and they want $500+shipping for that thing. You could easily buy a pre-modded XBOX with a 120GB HD for $350-$400.

Plus XBMC uses mplayer code legally.

Can an XBox output HD res stuff though? I mean can the CPU even handle decoding HD res MPEG4? Sigma's new chipset I believe can. I don't like Sigma either though.

Nope, you can FTP the files straight to the HD. XBMC allows you to access the different partitions.

hiya i bought one from www.scan.co.uk (http://www.scan.co.uk), cant remember the model for my mum, had to promptly test it first ;)

The angles it provided where good, picture quality good, and scan even give me a leaflet for multi-region to ;)

I didnt pay more than a £100 I know that much ;)

I will try and dig out my scan invoice

There is even more but post size constraints don't permit me to. You can get all of the details at www.xboxmediacenter.com. That and with XBMC, you always have the option to update it. If a particular file or file extension isn't supported, there will almost always be an update with a fix for it within a month or two.

XBOX all the way - you can even stream the movie form yuor PC so you could save money and not get a larger HD.

Yep, although the HD upgrade is really convenient. You don't need to get a 200GB+ HD or anything. I have an 80GB Seagate in my XBOX and it is more than enough for what I want (store my favorite games, emus, and a few video files). I run everything else from disc.
