im on window 2000 and have just upgraded my norton to Norton Internet Security 2005.

after installing this the CPU usage has gone up to 99% ccapp.exe is the guilty party which is part of the email scanning for norton, which symantec say you shouldnt remove from startup. They say to remove Cmanager.exe from start up which is to do with the adsl connection icon in the toolbar.

I dont have a Cmanager in programs set at start up but i had one called Czyxeladsl.exe (which is my bb connection name) so i stopped this and it has made no difference.

Any info would be great.

Cheers TTATO

Uninstall Norton Internet Security and switch to another firewall. This software is not only buggy but very resource intensive.

Yeah I agree norton Slows all systems down no end! I have used norton but when back to the New Zone Alarm Security Suite! Its a Great program.

Others have recommended Outpost Firewall but have never used that.

Or a FREE combo of Avast Home 4.5 A/V www.avast.com (http://www.avast.com)

And...

Sygate free version firewall www.sygate.com (http://www.sygate.com) , both do a far better job than any Symantec product with very little processor usage IMHO.

I would also suggest ditching Norton, this product (since 2004/SAV8) had became a pain to deal with, normal Norton AV/IS is causing no end of problems for our customers, even on fast machines.
