As this comes up frequently and the post discussing it went up in smoke here's how to get these two apps to work together with no conflicts.
1st of all this only applies to DCD pre 5.0 releases, as DCD v5.0 does not have this problem.
And these directions are for Win98.
It's fairly simple really.
First Disable Auto Insert Notification for your CDRW. You will find this under Properties for the Drive in Control Panel-->System-->Device Manager.
Now disable DirectCD from Loading at Bootup.
Go to Start-->Run type in MsConfig and Ok.
Go to the Startup Tab.
Find the Box for DirectCD.exe and Disable/Uncheck it.
Apply and Ok. It will now notify you to ReBoot, you can do it now or later it matters not.
Now go to Explorer and browse to the Folder containing DirectCD.exe.
Right Click the file and Create Shortcut.
Name the Shortcut DirectCD.
Drag it to your Desktop or Cut & Paste it to your Start Menu.
If you have not already ReBoot.
Install Nero if you haven't already done so.
ReBoot again.
You can now use Nero normally, but will need to use the Shortcut you created to use DCD.
Simply Click it to load the app and when done either use Crtl-Alt-Del, select DirectCD--> End Task, to Close it or ReBoot the PC before using Nero again.
