I am looking to buy a DVD player/surround sound system for up to £200.

I had kinda made my mind up on the Panasonic SC-HT520 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00027YIAO/ref=br_lf_ce_3/026-8118244-3333257), but the one thing stopping me is I play a lot of Xvid/Divx stuff.. which obviously this doesn't support.

Then I saw this DVD player which also plays Divx stuff (and pretty much whatever else you throw at it by the looks..) http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=64760&_LOC=UK

So how do I get the best of both worlds? Could I buy both and then route the Divx player through the Panasonic Home Cinema?

Or should I just buy the Divx player and then some surround sound separates?

The Panasonic looks like a good choice (especially as its available for about £160). If you went down the route of getting both, you would only ever get analogue sound from the ebuyer player as the Panasonic only has analogue audio in according to the spec.

The Panny will deliver digital sound i.e Dolby Digital or DTS through any suitable discs played on it but according to the Specs it has no Digital in (Coax or optical) therefore the best it can do is accept analogue in from an external source and produce Dolby PL or even DPLII (which is not bad btw but still not real 5.1)

I see.

Do you know of any decent all in one surround sound system that supports divx/xvid?

DivX and XviD are video codecs, no sound system supports them. One exception would I guess be DivX audio (WMA v2), don't think that can be passed digitally anyway.
