How can I install dial-up networking on Windows XP professional, the laptop is fitted with a modem, a LAN card and a Wireless card, When I install WinXP it looks like it hasn't installed Dial up networking. When I try to make an internet connection the option to connect using a Dial up modem is greyed out and I only get the option to connect via broad band which I don not have, Help please!!!

Are the drivers for the modem installed?
I would check in "Device Manager" to ensure that the modem is installed correctly (Should be listed under "Modems" IIRC).

You should be able to go to Control Panel/Network Connections and select Create New Connection.
Then make this your default.

The modem is installed and when I query the modem it gives my results. When I try to create a new connection It only gives me the option to create a new Broadband connection. The 'Connection usinf dial up networking option' is there but it is greyed out and I cannot click the radio button. How can I install the dial up networking adapter?

There is nothing extra to install, after installing XP Pro. The feature is installed by default.
I take it you are logged in with full Administrator rights ? and the system hasn't been compromised or tinkered with in any way ?

Hasn't been tinkered with as far as I can tell, Dial up networking was available under Windows XP but when I upgraded to XP pro it has disappeared? Any ideas what to try?

Hopefully that will be the answer.
For future reference, it is never a good idea to do an upgrade .... it's much preferable to do a clean install, as too much junk gets left behind from the old setup, causing these type of problems.
Good Luck
