http://www.v21.co.uk/v21/index.asp seem to be ok. Can't comment personally as I am 200 metres outside local broadband limit:bawling:

I am using PIPEX and am very pleased with the service. The Monthly download file size is unlimited for aprox £23 a month.BT Broadband looks a good price at the moment, comming it at £19.99 a month but this restricts you to 1GB a month.

I suppose it depends on what you are going to use it for, 1GB a month may be enough.

It was a forum like this that I requested the best Broadband site from and PIPEX.COM came up a lot as one of the best.

Hope this helps

Pipex for me, modem and installation for £17 (I think BT isaround £70, which outweighs any cost difference).

Check the newsfeeds too, you can always buy another newsfeed if you need to. e.g. newscene, altopia, supernews, etc

www.eclipse.net.uk (http://www.eclipse.net.uk/)

I have been with these for a while now. Been voted fastest ISP for about 4 or 5 months running on www.adslguide.org.uk (http://www.adslguide.org.uk) and you get a 1 month contract for £23 a month. Service is excellent, although the email tends to go down a bit too frequently for my liking.

Yep eclipse is a good ISP for what your looking for (monthly) I considered it myself but went with pipex as i prefer to pay annualy and eclipse don't do this.

PS. your link to adslguide is wrong.

That's right, you can only pay monthly or quarterly with Eclipse. I've changed the link now, cheers mate.

UncleThat is scary re: BT. When I first heard that I tried to work out roughly what I d/l a day on my Pipex a/c and it is normally a minimum of 1GB a day! :D

Heaven help me if even Pipex start capping our lines!

I've found Pipex to be excellent myself and if you cancel in the first 12 months all you have to do is pay them the £50 + VAT BT connection fee which they paid (unlike most others!) when you joined. So you are not tied into a 12 month long contract as such. It's only £33 a month for a 1mb line and as you can see from my greed, shown by my daily d/l figure, I find it great value and the line speed is always excellent. :D

Is it just me or does it seem that the cheaper/less you pay pm for broadband the worse the TOS are? Ie. bulldog....maybe cheap but its not true speed 100% of the time. Nor can you migrate or break the contract without paying a lump sum.

rather than companies like freeserve/AOL/BT maybe that bit more pricey but they don't give you such a bad contract. i was able to break my 12 month contract just after 4 months with AOL. seems that they likethese companies try to keep a good reputation. weather or not that actually have one...

adslguide.org is a fantastic site!

Check it out as they also do regular Top 10s.

I use such ISPs during the summer when I am back home. For example the like of Zen Internet, Ecplipse and Nildram charge roughly £23/£29 for 512kps/1meg respectively. However Nildram charge £60 for account cancellation if within 12months whilst the former two are minimum one months and therefore free.
