Video files that play fixed and can't be fowardd - how to fix?

I've got a load of mpg, asf and wmv files that can't be fast forwarded. Basically you have to watch from start to finish and can't FF or anything. What's the best and easiest way to change this?

Don't think that the mpg's are really mpg's. Try ASFTools.

Well obviously this is purely subjective, but yes.
Could also remux to mkv, should give you better seeking than is possible with wmv/asf and probably also (slightly) smaller files due to lower overheads.
