DVD Burner: LiteOn 1213s (12x)
Software: Nero 6 Express
DVD Media: Iomega DVD+R 4.7GB 2.4x
I am burning files (media files) from HDD to DVD. There are no errors when creating the DVD (burning completes successfully). I burn at a speed of 2.4x, which usually finishes in 23 minutes.
The problem is when I attempt to read the files on the DVD. There is almost always one file that gives me a CRC error. I have tried different media, and so far have created about 8 coasters.:bawling:
I have tried burning to as low as 4.25GB, finalized the DVD, and all sorts of combinations.
I've updated the firmware on the DVD Burner. The only thing I haven't done is to update Nero itself.
Comments are welcome.
Thanks.

Also, I should note that I was able to successfully create a DVD with the various media I've tried only twice in ten tries. The other 8 were coasters. Settings were the same.

I just updated my version of Nero.
The error I'm getting now is "Power Calibration Error"...help!!!:bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

What version of Nero?
I've found 6.3.1.25 the most stable as I've had a few problems with 6.6, but usually power calibration errors are asociated with poor media.

Yeah ... as Lazza says, 9 times out of 10 it's bad media.
Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) Error, is Windows way of telling you it cannot read/verify the data.
Power Calibration Error means your Burner cannot adjust the strength (power) of the laser, for the media inserted.
Both would indicate poor media to me too. Try using some higher quality disks ... TY or Riteks would be good and see if you lose the problem.
Alternatively, if you have a lot of these disks, you could keep your size down to under 4gb and/or burn at a slower speed .... havings said that 1 X Speed will take you around an hour per disk.

I started out with 6.3.1.25 (that's where I got the CRC errors). When I upgraded to 6.6, I started getting "Power Calibration Errors". Same media used.
I would say that out of 10 tries, I've only gotten to burn 1 good DVD from this set of media using both versions of Nero.
I'll try to find better quality media and give it another try.
So far, I've created 10 coasters.

Would it be possible and advisable to rollback to a previous version of firmware?

Would it be possible and advisable to rollback to a previous version of firmware?Yes but don't bother, LiteOn are pretty good when it comes to firmware updates so if you are using the latest firmware I would def stick with that as that will provide you with the best media match compatability.

While doing research, I came across this site: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=112882&highlight=1213.
Has anyone tried this? Is it safe?
