I have a V5 at present modded and working perfect. I am thinking of buying a silver PS2 and getting it modded. I have heard that the V9's were unrelaible with or without a mod chip. Is this true. Is it worth the upgrade as I am V happy with my V5 as it has never let me down and plays all PS2 back ups I through at it. but some one has offered me £120 for it and I am wondering if i should upgrade.

Cheers

The silver v9-v10 systems needs to have an addition modification to it to make it stable. Check out this (http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/laserV9.htm) link. The systems are quieter, and maybe a little quicker at loading. They are also missing the i-link port, so if you plan on playing any of the Time Crisis games with system link, your outta luck.

I'd say, stick with your v5 system, as you've said, it hasn't failed you yet.

V9's and 10's are very reliable with the above fix doing, is called the Romeo Mod. My Silver V9 has given me no problems at all with a Matrix Infinity fitted and the Romeo Mod done.

But as you've said and stated above in ragingdevil's post your V5 is working just fine, also getting hold of a new V9/10 silver is going to be difficult and you could be getting a worse unit than your current one if already chipped without that Romoe mod...

The part of that link which is titled ' The V9/10 Syndrome as we know it ' IS the Romeo mod.

The pics just show which chip leg to lift and connect to the safe 5v on the V9 or V10 machines.

I have a V9 silver machine and chipped it with Matrix Infinity and the Romeo mod. Never had a problem with it. Done a few silver ones now ( V9 and 10's ) with the above chip and Romeo. No probs at all.
