About to purchase my first modded XBOX and wondered what the differences are between all the various different chips available are?

I'll mainly be using it the Media Interface to play downloaded tv episodes, mp3's and some back-up games if that makes any difference as to which chip would be best for me?

Thanks.

Cheekster.

Any chip would work for you as far as that actually you dont need a chip if you flash the TSOP or use a softmod.

If you want to play live then I would recommend a chip, but due to the recent turn of events a chip might not even help you right now as far as xbox-live we will see what happens

Stay tuned true believers!!!

The TSOP flash doesn't work with all versions though and a chip comes in handy should something get screwed up. Anyways, I personally recommend sticking to the Xecutor chips at this point (2.6 or X3) as they seem to be the most trouble free and there is lots of help and info about them. The Xenium ICE seems to be giving people alot of trouble (could be due to the fakes that are being circulated ATM). There are some cheaper no-name alternatives but these don't tend to have the best info (installation, ect.) since not as many people have them.

Yep it doesnt work for 1.6 xbox only since it doesnt have a tsop but the softmod works for all version and if you just want to play games and not add a bigger HD it takes about 10min to do.

Tack on another 15 and you can add a larger HD and doesnt act any different than it being modded with a chip other than the fact you cant turn it off unless you uninstall

Its also free (you do have to have a way to get it to the card and you have to buy the flash card and adaptor or action replay max if you dont know anyone with a modded xbox already also you need and exploitable disk which can be rented)

However I have never complained and enjoy my executer 2.3 in my version 1.4 xbox and I thoroughly enjoy it, but if I had a brand new one I would soft mod it all the way in a heart beat

whats the difference between 2.6 and 2.6 lite?

A 2.6 lite doesnt come with a programmer to reflash the chip bios while a 2.6 does
Unless you plan on fixing other peoples mopdchip from a failed flash on both banks I would go with a lite
