got son a graphics card what next

just got son a graphics card for pc
instaled it for him. but when he boots pc gets nowt.
monitor don't come on or ne thing.
m8 says i need to switch off onboard grafix,if so how do
i do that.
not sure what card is all i know is its 128mb pci

You should be able to disable the onboard graphics in the bios. When you first boot up the computer and the screen is black, press the delete key. You need to do it quickly and might need to press it more than once. Then navigate to the onboard graphics and disable it. Press F10 to save and exit. Reboot and Windows should locate your new video card and try to install it as new hardware. Just follow the prompts and have the disc from the video card ready so you can install the drivers.
