Hi I have a DIVX player and want to convert xvid to divx as my player is a bit jerky with the xvids I have tried DR Divx but find it uses 100% of the cpu when it's encoding can anyone suggest an alternative encoder please that is less cpu hungry cheers bjellys

Do these XviD files use bframes? If so are they packed? GSpot or MPEG4 Modifier can tell you. If they do have packed bframes, try unpacking them with MPEG4Modifier and see if they play ok.
The whole idea of encoding is to use 100% of your CPU. Use 50% and it takes twice as long. That said if you turn down the priority of the encoder, anything with a higher priority can use the CPU instead.
Also I'm moving this to the MPEG4 forum. DivX/XviD = MPEG4.
