I don't know if this belongs in here or in spamville, but it deserves some serious attention. If a mod feels that this needs to be moved, go ahead. This is my plea:

My wife and I have a 4 year old Akita that we adopted from the SPCA 3 years ago. This dog has led a fairly happy life and hasn't faced many hardships. We feed her even though we don't have money to splurge on ourselves and even treat her to all different kinds of luxuries.

Recently, our dog has begun to limp when she walked, and seemed to be in some intense pain when waking up or getting up from naps. She wouldn't walk up any steps and would just lie in one spot and not move. We though it was just a small sprain (she is clumsy) or maybe arthrtis in her legs, and that it would go away. Sadly it did not. So we decided to take her to the vet.

When we arrived at the vet, the person checked her out. Our worse fears were realized. It came to be that a ligament in what would be considered her knee was torn and she needed surgery to make her better. The doctor prescribed a few painkillers, but advised us to get surgery ASAP or else it would get worse.

Please consider that we could not even pay for the X-rays and visit to the SPCA vet, since it was like $75 all together. We couldn't even afford the painkillers, but they cut us a break and charged us only $45 (out of the $50 extra money we have to spend). We called the animal hospital to get an estimate on what it would cost.

The receptionist told us it was cost between 1,000-3,000 US Dollars to get the surgery. This did not include the check-up costs, nor the costs for medicines to kill the pain afterwards. We asked the woman if we could go on some sort of payment plan, but she told us we would have to have at least 1/2 of the money upfront before they do anything. Needless to say, with me going to school and working barely enough to pay the bills, and my wife currently searching for a job in the horrible job market here, we cannot afford the money, and more than likely will not be able to for a while.

My plea to you is to please help our dog. She is like a child to us and we do not want to put her to sleep, however we might have to if we cannot raise the money for the surgery soon. Note that this is not a scam nor an attempt for personal gain and all of the money is going towards our dog.

All I ask is for anything, absolutely anything, that anyone would be willing to donate to help our dog. Right now I am in the process of building a webpage for this cause, in attempts to get more help. But for now, I ask for a little.

If anyone would be kind enough to donate anything, from $.50 to $1.00 or even more, it would be greatly appreciated. Anything gained will help, since I can only afford to put a little bit down out of every weeks paycheck to pay for this operation. I will be scanning pictures of the dog tomorrow and updating this post, as well as updating it when the webpage is finished.

Once again, this is not a scam, and I will do everything in my power to prove it. For those willing to donate, please send money to the paypal account of soritong@gmail.com . For those who do not have a paypal account, or would like to donate with cash or check or money order, please send me a PM and I will give you a way to contact me.

Thank you very much for your time and God Bless.

I'll be the quote unquote 'bad guy' here and ask that if you can email me scanned images of your vet costs please? I realize this might sound callous but we've had members in the past post similar things and have it only turn out to be false (hard to believe but there are a few bad apples out there unfortunately that ruin it for legitimate folks here). So much so that it was decided not to have any donation posts any more.

Like I said though, if you can indeed prove this then you may be able to sway us into keeping this post unlocked and if members wish to send donations, so be it.

Agree with Merc on this m8, we have taken a pretty strong stance in the past especially at old cdrg and just said a block no on everything. But I am prepared to make exceptions in special cases here at DVDRG and as Merc said allow the members to make their own minds up and donate if they wish too. So if you could forward him that ASAP plz that would be great.

I totally agree with the other mods on this. However have you contacted any vets in your area to see if they will do it on a payment plan? If the vet has any type of compassion, they'll agree to it. Especially under the circumstances.
