I just got an xbox and can't decide what to do. I've been doing a lot of reading and am torn between the no mod method and installing a modchip. Could someone please list some advantages and disadvantages of going one way or the other? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

why not just go for no-mod because its free and no risk (if you do it right) and if you dont like it you can always get it chipped at a later date.

TBH the softmod works exactly the same as a modchip for the most part.

By no mod do you mean soft mod or TSOP flash?

Best choice is the '007 audio hack' m8 if you want to keep your warranty.

...No clock loop issues, only loads PBL when you want it to, it works like a dream!!

If u 'aint worried about your warranty, get a chip installed, or TSOP flash.

Advice: Steer clear of font hacks installed on their own, unless you keep your Xbox plugged in all the time m8.

I use Bert and Ernie Reloaded and dont get stuck in a loop ;) I guess some console versions work better then others with the different fonts.

thermalundy, did you get better replies here or on that old board of chaos that you posted this same question at? :)

Just curious.

People, clock loops can be easily avoided if you use the "Bert and Ernie Reloaded" Font pack. Dont use the old big fonts pack. Fonts are more easier to install, and with the newer packs, they don't loop anymore. If your clock gets resest it automatically sets your time to the 4th of july. And if you dont have a mem card or 007, just do a HD Swap, install the font exploit + Free X. Then FTP into your xbox, upload raincoat and flash away. After you bridged the TSOP write enable points of course. And if you have a newer 1.6 xbox or one with the new bios your out of luck on TSOP flashing. Until some one finds a way around it.
