XBOX not loading anything, please help...

ok, here is my problem...my buddy's xbox just suddenly stopped working...he bought this online when the enigma chip first came out...so it is one of the first xbox systems...it is loaded with evo x...it just one day stopped loading games, both originals and backups...i thought it may be the chip, but i put a new enigma in it and same thing, so i tried changing the drive thinking maybe the drive was bad...but that didn't work either...all it does is load to the evo x dashboard and that's it...will not load a game...any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated...but i'm not looking for remarks like get rid of it and get a new one...if anyone has any ideas, please let me know, e-mail me or post here...but if you just have sarcasm, please don't respond, as i'm frustrated enough with the system as it is...lol...thanks...

you`ll have to excuse my ignorance, but is there any way to see if the enigmah is actually working? if so, then try new dvd drive, with new leads /old hdd, could possibly be the leads. (or just replace he leads i.e. dvd power and ide lead)

does it boot when the chip is removed? (originals)

If It's loading EvoX then the chip is working surely? Will it run anything else such as media player etc from the HD. The HD must be O.K as I asume that the EvoX dash is installed on there. Can you get to other screens such as savegames etc on the MS dash?
If it's not loading a game even though you may have tested the Drive it's surely got to be DVD drive related? as sugested above chek your IDE cables etc, Can you hear the games spin up in the drive?
