Because I recently put another 512 in and at the moment my pagefile size is
768 Initial Size
1536 Maximum Size
Is this abour right or should it be higher or lower?

A basic rule of thumb with page files and ram are: The amount of ram plus one half...example is 512 would equal 768, then double that for the max size. 256 would equal 384 and the max would be 768. So 1gb would equal 1.5gb, max would be 3gb.

Set both max and min (initial) sizes to 768MB and you'll be fine.
Edited: First set it to No Paging File then do a good defrag then set min/max sizes to 768MB.

I have 512 mb of DDR memory and I have no paging file, and my system is fast as hell, paging file slows the pc down, u don't really need paging file for 1gb, test it out, and see if u get any problems.
Depending on what you are doing you could use your gig of ram. I doubt it is a good idea not to have one. The way I understand things it should only slow your system down if you exceed the amount of physical ram installed, if you don't have one and you exceed your physical ram, programs will crash.
