My mother has just got a 32 inch sony ws tv ,a sony dvd recorder ,she,s gone away for a month and left us at her house ,she wants me to set it up for her even with the manuals it seems hard.
What i want to do is at the bottom of her shelf she has a standard vhs recorder ,then a sky box, then the sony dvd recorder ,then the sony tv which is built in with a digi reciever ,but where we live its no signal. She still gets her normal sky signal through her sat dish though.
the tv has two scart sockets av1 and av2 the dvd recorder has 2 and the digibox 2 and video 2 .
Anyone got a simalar set up and can advise me? At the moment i can get it to record but not sky.
I know there is a manual for each but it only shows a set up to digital or video.
thanks in advance .

If I understand correctly my advice (I’m know expert) would be…

SkyBox into DVD Recorder – DVD Recorder into AV1

Skybox Into VHS Video - VHS Video into AV2

That way you can record Sky via the DVD recorder and VHS.

You’ll have to watch sky via one of the recorders but that shouldn’t be a problem.

Sound OK?

depends what you want to achieve

The above sounds reasonable with a couple of comments...
1) Make sure connection from Sky to DVD rec to TV is RGB all the way and the pic quality will still be very good.

2) Does the Sky box definitely have 2 Scart outs? If not, you could daisy chain them all but personally I would not be bothered hooking Sky to VCR given that you have the DVD recorder. Just have the VCR connected straight to the TV to watch vids

Yeh Id agree with the above, had a similar setup here, both VCR and DVD recorder set to record sky, but the VCR was never ever used for recording so it was just needless cabling
