Currentl;y downloading a movie and i noticed that the .bin file has automatically been renamed to an avg update file. Is it just a case of renaming it to .bin when downloaded? Is there a way of preventing this in the future?

Also, how can i convert the bin/cue to mpg or avi?

You should find that they still perform as bin files m8 - I haven't had any problems.

AVG uses the extension .BIN for update files. It is a very common extension used for numerous file formats including bin/cue CD images. About time MS did away with relying on file extensions isn't it?

mpg, just use something like ISOBuster or VCDGear and extract the mpg/dat to mpg. For DivX, that really depends on what container format you are going for. For avi you could just convert with VirtualDub/VirtualDubMod, you would need to modify the stream with MPEG4 modifier after encoding though to set the PAR (DivX doesn't support setting it when encoding) so that it resizes correctly on playback like the original (S)VCD would have. Otherwise you need to resize to 1:1 before encoding. This I would not recommend using Vdub for as it requires converting to RGB. Both (S)VCD and DivX use YV12 so it is better to resize in AVISynth and keep the entire process in one colourspace.
