Can anyone advise if you can use Dvd Shrink to rip film and output as an iso onto you hard drive , or does it have to be Vobs.

Of course you can. There is an option there to output as an ISO and then burn in DVD Decrypter but I believe there is still the old option to just output to ISO. Which version of Shrink are you running? The latest Version (V3.2) should support all of this.

My appologies for the large size screen shot but this is the only way I could show you. Select the first option there and it will just output to ISO on the HD for you. *EDIT* NM I can't get it to work. Anyways, when you go to backup, just click the "Select backup target option" Under the target options tab. The first option should be "ISO Image File" Just select that one and it will just output as an ISO file to the HD without burning in DVD Decrypter.

Sorted m8, i have just downloaded new latest version. So if i have a disk which is to large i can open disk hit backup and this will output as a smaller file(iso) to burn to one disk when wanted.

Thanks for youe help you have saved me again.

Cheers

Yup, it will output to an ISO which will fit on a DVD-R, which you can burn at your leisure or you can get the latest DVD Decrypter and select the option to automatically have DVD Decrypter burn the ISO file once you are finished. The choice is yours. ;)

jasonweston....to reiterate on this.......You did say "So if i have a disk which is to large i can open disk hit backup and this will output as a smaller file(iso) to burn to one disk when wanted".
NO!! It will NOT Output as a smaller file!......If the Film you got is 7Gbt n you Backup to Hard disc as an ISO Image, it will still be 7Gbt......If its 4.3Gbt then yes it will Burn that file with no probs as an ISO......ISO Read, ISO Write/Burn......You have to Re-Author a 7Gbt Movie.....Hope I've explained this OK......

Uh, no. With DVD Decrypter that is the case but Shrink will actually compress an outputted ISO to fit on a DVD-R.

Cheers guys - for an example i have just bought a dvd which when i open disk with DVD Shrink it breaks down into Main Movie And then another Extras. I made back up of film.
But not sure if it has made a back up of the extras. Have not burnt yet but will tomorrow to see what i got.

What do you think i will get

Main Movie or both Main Movie and extras - i did use shrink but only main movie was highlighted when i hit back up.

Any way what ever the outcome you have resolved my probs - cheers once again

Yeah, you have two options with Shrink. 1. regular mode which burns everything (Menus, Movie, Special Features) 2. Reauthor-you lose the menu but you can keep the movie itself and pick and choose which special features you want to add. Comes in quite handy for the movies where there are just one or two deleted scenes that you wouldn't mind having but you don't want all of the extra garbage. ;)
