Hi, I'm new to the DVD ripping thing, I usually get a mate to do them for me, but I have loads of different software, so wanted to have a go myself.

I want to rip DVD to SVCD. What's the best software for this?
I tried it the other night using a program called 'DVD to SVCD v1.9', it ripped the DVD fine to the hard disk, but wouldn't burn it to cd. When I opened the folder, containing the ripped files, they were only capable of playback in Winamp. They had been ripped to mpeg!!!!
Obviously something either wrong with the settings, the program, or my burner.

What program do you recommend for ripping DVD to SVCD????

Cheers

You mean DVD2SVCD? Hmm, nah the versions don't match.

I would suggest DVD2SVCD with CCE to encode.

SVCD is mpeg by the way. Well mpeg2.

Also, I'm moving this to the VCD forum.

I've just installed this software called "DVD to Copy v6.0 Platinum", it converts DVD to VCD and SVCD.

The software looks quite good, and even tells you how many disks you require, whether you want subtitles, audio quality etc.

However, when I started the first rip, all was going fine, it said I required 2 disks but finished reading the DVD but only burned ONE disk, didn't ask me for the second disk. Spat both the DVd & the VCD out, and that was it. No mention of the second disk.
I wasted 4 disks, but now I'm going to try out on rewritables, to avoid waste, but the burn speed is slower!!

Has anyone used this software?
If so, am I doing something wrong?
I treble checked the settings before hitting the start button, all seemed ok...... but want an expert opinion... CHEERS

It's ok.

Works a treat now!
Successfully created a 3 disk SVCD using this program last night, with English subtitles ripped in also (because the film was French ;) )
