I have a 1.6 xbox that I installed a SmartXX chip in. When it sits on the SmartXX OS for 30-45 seconds it turns itself off. If I press the power button it will not do anything. The eject button won't work either. I have to unplug and then plug the xbox back in. It then powers up by itself without me hitting the power or eject button. If I let it sit for awhile it acts normal. It only happens when it runs for 30-45 seconds.

I have the bios on the chip because I was able to boot up a back up. The fan in back is spinning so I don't think its overheating.

The chip has to be installed right if it boots up without fragging and loads a backup.

Anyone have any suggestions? I posted at smartxx forum, but no help there. Maybe this has nothing to do with the chip. I don't know. I'm lost here.

mate, ive never installed a msart x chip, but what i would do is (as its obviuosly doing your head in)

strip the box down, and install everything back in piece by piece, checking to make sure that nothing shorted, or earth when it shouldnt be.
also a good idea is to just quickly reheat the solder points for a second , to eliminate dry joints.

its late and i`m tired but sounds like something could be shorted or earthed, could be wrong though mate

good luck

I fixed it. The power board was bad. I changed it with a new one and all is fine. I never thought a brand new piece would be bad from MS.

By power baord I mean the board the power and eject button is on. Not the power supply. Not sure exactly whats its called.
