Maybe try a different ftp prog. Have you ever tried qwix? When used along with the avalaunch dash it has a turbo ftp mode and transfers games around 3 times faster than regular ftp.

Strange, I just been trying to recreate your problem just now, I can only think that either you have an unlocked drive that isn't formatted properly, or the ftp client is an issue- or your version of evox isn't too new
what i'd do is get a new copy of evox (or another dash), from the "usual places" then unrar it rename the xbe name to "defaul.xbe"- edit the evox.ini (or other settings file) so that your xbox 's ip is correct, and that the ftp server is enabled.
Now convert that folder to an ISO using simpleXiso or qwix and then burn that onto a cd-rw or what ever your drive can read- then you can use this cd to boot- and maybe the ftp will be sorted- you can copy the new version the cd over the old version- you may have to rename the .xbe.
I wouldn't say the qwix avalaunch combo is always that fast- it is very dependent on what iso you are trying to ftp accross- qwix creates isos that are optimised for ftp, and it also makes a differenc eif th eiso consists of little files or a few big ones.
They've just released the boost methodolgy over on xbox-scene so expect other developers to soon start implementing it in their apps and dash's.

Sorry someone_special (http://www.dvdrom-guide.com/forums/member.php?u=548) I cant help with your problem, but I have a question for pepsik (http://www.dvdrom-guide.com/forums/member.php?u=477), does qwix work with the Evox dash?, I normally use Flash FXP (sometimes 20-30 mins to xfer a game) any speed up would be nice.

qwix works with all dashs (just not in boost mode-unless using avalaunch- that'll change soon)- but its an iso extraction/creation (+game management with Avalaunch) tool rather than a full blown ftp client- you can't browse folders like you can in flashfxp, and you can't load non .iso items.
But if you were to ftp an iso to the xbox from your ftp client it wouldn't play you'd just have a huge iso sitting on your hd.
Unreal II which is almost 4gb took about 11-12 minutes to transfer using qwix/avalaunch- probably take around say 16-18 for a non ava dash
bit more info here (http://www.teamavalaunch.com/qwix/index.html)
oh yeah they're gonna put xiso reading from a pc dvd-rom drive (backups only) in the next release too.

sorry PHAT but I'm in the same boat as you, never tried it but it can't hurt. Going to install ava and qwix tonight when I get off.

OK thanks pepsik, I've run out of time for the mo so I will try it tomorrow with the Evox dash. I quite fancy the look and features of the Avalaunch dash but am loathe to change from Evox as my dash has taken me a long time to setup just how I like it.
I'll try a few speed tests with qwix and Evox against Flash and post the results.

phat b.- you really should check out avalaunch its in a whole different league compared to evox, too many options to list. You can still keep and use evox, you can make a link to it in avalaunch (or vice versa). Check out nimbles post (http://66.197.142.137/forums/showthread.php?t=454) on avalaunch for more info.
I did somewhat of a speed test today. I transferred mvp 2004 baseball and it averaged around 10Mbps with qwix/ava. Then I transferred an mpeg video with fxp and was only getting around 2.5-3Mbps. I know its not a real test as it was 2 completely different files but you get the idea.

I swapped out my old xml file and bunged in the xml i posted and it works fine with the latest avalaunch 0.48.64- all you'll have to do probably is to change the background music setting to:
<backgroundmusic enabled="1" cdda="1" cdmp3="1">
I'm pretty sure the first shoutcast address in the example sample.sc file doesn't work anymore so avalaunch tends to lock up.
Oh yeah I noticed a small error-
in the games path example I hadn't separated multiple sources for games with their invidiual "path tags" this is what it should be like
<list presetname="Games">
<path scanlevel="2">
E:\Games
</path>
<path>
F:\Games
</path>
<path>
E:\HDDLoader
</path>
<path>
F:\HDDLoader
</path>
</list>
I've made the change in the file too- sorry guys

I'm pretty sure the first shoutcast address in the example sample.sc file doesn't work anymore so avalaunch tends to lock up.I would suggest maybe sticking to v0.48.4 as I've found the newer ones lock up once in awhile with the background music and also when ftping.
